  • As the Executive Chief Engineer of the SDV Business Development Department of Honda Motor Co., Ltd., he oversees technologies in the AD/ADAS field, evaluates cutting-edge elemental technologies, and works to improve Honda’s technological presence as the head of technical relations.
    In 1990, he joined Honda R&D Co., Ltd., and since 2009 he has led the practical application of electric servo brake systems.
    In 2015, he won the 65th Japan Society of Automotive Engineers Technology Development Award for its development of an electric servo brake system.
    Since 2013, he has been engaged in research and development of automated driving, and in November 2020, he obtained type approval for the world’s first Level 3 automated driving system.
    Since December 2020, he has served as the chairman of the Automated Driving Safety Design Methods Working Group of the Japan Society of Automobile Engineers. Since April 2021, he has also served as the chairman of the Automated Driving Sub-committee of the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association.
    In 2023, as a project leader, he contributed to the publication of ISO TS 23792 Motorway Chauffeur System Part 1 (MCS-1) and received the 2024 Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry Industrial Standardization Project Award and the Director’s Award from the Innovation and Environment Bureau.

  • Earned a Master’s degree in Systems Engineering from Kobe University and joined Mazda in 1990
  • After working on advanced safety vehicle research at the Technical Research Center, led mass production and technology development for chassis control and brake system technology in the Chassis Dynamics Development Division from 2004
  • From 2015, in the Integrated Control Systems Development Division, was responsible for planning and driving the company-wide model-based development strategy
  • From 2023, in his current division, responsible for planning and driving strategy for Process/Tool/Method and DX, building on MBD
  • Also participated in a METI-hosted study group on model utilization from 2018 to 2021; since 2021, as Planning & Coordination Committee Chair of its successor organization JAMBE, has been active both in Japan and abroad toward realizing “SURIAWASE 2.0”

  • Ann Shi is currently VP of Pony.ai Group and President of Pony.AI
    株式会社, responsible for aligning strategic partners such as
    automakers, Tier-1 suppliers, and transportation network groups
    to jointly build a safer and more reliable mobility for societies with autonomous driving technology. She is also responsible for global markets strategy formulation and business development.

    Before joining Pony.ai, she worked for UK’s largest trade media
    company Haymarket Media Group, covering for its two financial
    media brands FinanceAsia and The Corporate Treasurer from the
    Hong Kong bureau, with expertise on Asia-Pacific economics,
    cross-border mergers and acquisitions, financial regulations,
    currency hedging, business innovation and entrepreneurship. In
    2017, she won the highest award for financial media in Asia: State
    Street Asia Pacific Journalist of the Year Award.

    She joined Pony.ai in early 2018 and is a founding team member of
    its China headquarters in Guangzhou and the earliest non-tech
    full-time employee in China. Since then, she was responsible for
    several roles including building the company’s public relations
    network, corresponding government relations and investor
    relations. She represented Pony.ai in winning the Pitch@Palace
    China Championship in 2018. Since April 2019, she became
    responsible for running business development activities.
    She holds a dual degree in economics and finance from University
    of Hong Kong.

After graduating from Zhejiang University in China and studying at Kyoto University, he joined OMRON in 1992. He engaged in research and development of facial recognition technologies, including facial detection technology for digital cameras and the development of the world’s first driver monitoring system.
In 2015, he joined SenseTime Group, where he promoted its automotive AI business, including autonomous driving and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). He led joint research and technology development projects with Japanese automobile manufacturers.

Since the early 2000s, he has worked to promote AI technology exchange and joint research between Japan and China, and has been one of the pioneers advancing industry-academia collaboration in AI between the two countries. He has held his current position since 2026.

After serving as a hardware engineer for advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) radar products, he has been responsible for technology strategy in the fields of E/E architecture and connectivity since 2020.

development (MBD). Alongside my engineering work, I have also
been involved in product planning and marketing.

Since 2024, I have been with dSPACE Japan, driving solutions
